ESR Project 7
The aim of this project is to manipulate the expression of selected ncRNAs in vitro and in vivo for functional characterization and preclinical evaluation of their therapeutic potential. A powerful tool for this approach are viral vectors which infect specific cell types or tissues, and which have been successfully employed and further developed by our laboratory. The PhD student will generate viral vectors for the overexpression of candidate ncRNAs in cardiac cell types. Viral vectors are tested in experimental models of myocardial infarction, along with phenotyping by (non-) invasive imaging technology, expression analyses for biomarkers and histology.The main result of this project will be the establishment of gain-of-function mouse models for 3 candidate non coding RNAs in ischemic heart failure.
